Everything Can Be Measured

As we continued to investigate numbers, we discovered that everything can be measured. On Tuesday we took the measuring Hi tape to the playground and measured different items. We also measured water colors and even our friends!

During morning meeting the children said “No mires..” (Don’t look), as each one took a turn and pulled a foam number out of the mystery bag. After choosing a number, we identified the number, matched it to our graph and then graphed it.

Our investigation deepened as we continued to mix and measure watercolors, discovering that yellow and blue make green. We also tested this finding using yellow and blue playdough. The children found that blue and yellow do in fact make green as their playdough morphed into different shades of green.
